About the Position

Under direct supervision, the Programmer Analyst develops and maintains database systems, provides application development, develops and maintains websites and web-based services, performs systems development and maintenance, provides support for electronic communications systems and provides data reporting and technical support to the operations of the Division of Student Affairs and its operating units, the campus community and external agencies.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
-Design, develop and implement fully integrated systems including applications and databases to support operations and services for groups and departments.
-Design, develop and implement Web-based services, including required web pages and corresponding interfaces to associated databases and applications.
-Assist in the planning and implementation of notification systems.
-Develop, document and maintain Oracle databases and data.
-Assist with developing, documenting and maintaining FileMaker Pro databases and data.
-Assist with developing and maintaining database backup and recovery procedures.
-Provide various reports and analyses of institutional data to Division of Student Affairs AVPs and Managers as assigned.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a degree related to computer science, information systems, or information management, required.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience developing and providing support for database applications such as SQL, ODBC, Filemaker, Access etc.
-Experience developing and maintaining data-driven applications, websites and associate web-based services using web-based technologies such as HTML, Javascript, PHP, web frameworks, Apache server, IIS server, etc.
-Experience developing stand-alone computer applications and integrating multiple computer applications such as IMAP, POP, SMTP, TCP/IP, DNS etc.
-Experience providing desktop support in a university or similar shared-governance structure.
-Experience developing or supporting data reporting services.
-Two years of full-time work experience in programming, IT support, or a relevant field, preferably in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Basic knowledge of Server Administration (Installation, configuration, backups, migration, performance tuning, events, alerts) and Custom Development.
-Working knowledge of Web Content Management (WCM).
-Working knowledge of Information Taxonomy Best Practices.
-Ability to build custom web parts.
-Working knowledge of integration with MS SQL or other SQL Reporting Services.
-Ability to troubleshoot CSS layout issues in IE, Firefox, and Safari.
-Basic knowledge of PeopleSoft and familiarity with the data structures within PS.
-Demonstrated ability to maintain and design web pages that are compliant with university requirements for accessibility and ADA 508.
-Ability working in higher education in designing and programming information systems.
-Ability to work independently and within a team, work well with business users, accept responsibility and see projects through to successful completion. 
-Ability to analyze areas of new technology as it pertains to possible solutions to business problems and assess options available to the university.
